4 Distilled lavender essential oil

If you have an option, use a steam distillation – ideal form for production of many essential oils. (In this method, the substance passes through a refrigerating process where the steam liquefies. The liquid that forms from the condensate on the walls of the cooled pipe consists of two components - water and oil. After stabilization, there is an oil on top and water stays at the bottom.)

Homemade option:

You will need:

  • Large pot with lid
  • Distilled water
  • 4 kilograms of chopped or cut Lavender
  • Colored glass with lid that can be closed easily

Directions:

Put the lavender into the pot and pour it with distilled water. The pot cannot be fuller than 3/4. Cover with a lid upside down (so that all the condensates can flow back to the pot). Bring to a boil, then cook at the low degree for 5 hours.

When you see lavender starting to settle in the pot below, you can turn it off. But keep the frequency for 5 hours. It gives strength and to produced essential oil. After cooling, put the pot into the fridge. Leave it in the fridge for 12 to 14 hours.

If you carefully open the pot after 12 hours, you will see a thin layer of oil on the surface - this is your essential oil, which solidifies when cooled. Carefully remove it from the water. Work fast, it can start to melt right away. Place by spoons in the prepared colored glass bottle with a cap.

Sometimes a little water remains in the oil. When you gently heat the bottle in a blanket or near a heater, the water evaporates, leaving only the essential oil. Do not heat the oil for too long.
