MARCH IN THE LAVENDER VALLEY
Welcoming spring was loved by the Celts, Slavs, Druids, Christians, and revered throughout Europe as the most beautiful holiday of the year. In the Lavender Valley we see this traditional Czech holiday as a spring awakening and the beginning of the season of life outdoors not indoors.
The February nights are coming to an end as the sun enters the sign of Aquarius and the seeds of trees, shrubs and the whole plant kingdom awaken. The festival of light Imbolc, L'fheill Brighde carries away the ice and cold and brings sap and other juices of trees and shrubs symbols of life. The Celts brewed "birch meth" from birch sap. The birch is a tree dedicated to the goddess of light and represents new beginnings.
Celebrating nature and life
As renewal arrives and the sun's rays warm our faces, we instinctively seek its strength. To complement this feeling of revitalization, we apply the unique biodynamic Organic Skin Reparator, ensuring our skin is luxuriously hydrated, nourished, and treated with chemistry-free care.
Vesna takes over the scepter from Morena
She, who ruled the winter, gives her power to the woman of spring in the magic of the moment.
A season full of growth, renewal and hope, of first flowers and folk songs that celebrate nature, life and the opportunity for new beginnings.
Herbal baths in early spring
Our organic salts are a direct legacy of the healing Celtic herbal cauldrons, shaping traditional European medicine until the advent of modern bath products laden with harmful chemicals. While these modern products often detract from our well-being, we have meticulously blended our organic salts with the most prestigious and rare organic herbs. This combination allows you to not only create a nourishing biodynamic salad but also to experience a truly divine bathing ritual.
The most important days for the sacred healing bath - the Feast of St. George, Easter and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. German traditional medicine reports. "One herbal bath on these days, more than nine spa baths at other times."
Celts and ancient peoples in the sweat lodge and steam bath
Across Europe, spring was traditionally a time for sweat or steam cleansing. All nations recognized the importance of detoxification for the skin, mind, and body, especially after the winter months. This practice was integral to the Celts and other ancient peoples, who utilized sweat lodges and steam baths for purification

Drawing inspiration from the German 'Stube'—a room akin to the English 'stove'—our traditional sweat lodge at Well Being Spa Lavender Valley provides a unique cleansing experience. Here, you'll undergo personalized wraps, compresses, and care tailored to your specific ailments.
Spring Equinox, Alban Eilir
Shortly after ten o'clock in the morning on March 20, 2025, the center of the sun crosses the celestial equator and the vernal equinox begins, which will last until June 21.
As spring awakens, the landscape transforms with the blossoming of sloes, elm, ragwort, snowdrops, primroses, nine-oaks, and hellebores. Though the woods remain dormant, the meadows, nourished by the melting snow, offer their first vibrant greetings to the sun and humankind. Notably, our neighbors in Allgäu observe Palm Sunday with a unique tradition: they create a wreath of seven green branches—boxwood, yew, juniper, thuja, monkshood, white fir, spruce, willow, and beech leaves—and fasten it to an elder cross, believing this prevents witches from concealing themselves within the tree's bark.
Let's go burn Morena
As a rule, the large straw figurine, i.e. Morena, which symbolizes winter, is thrown into the river to float away or burned, depending on the region and its customs. Dressed in an old dress and decorated with colourful ribbons, she resembles the little queen of winter.
